Description

If you’re looking to install a GM 700R-4 adapter to your Bronco Dana 20, there are a few things you should know. The adapter itself is 2.50″ in length and made of 356 T-6 heat-treated aluminum alloy. The kit includes everything you’ll need for installation, including the adapter housing, a new 700R-4 output shaft, spud shaft, shifter linkage bracket, bearing retainer, bearing, snap ring, o-ring, gasket, seal, fastening hardware, and adapter instructions. Keep in mind that you’ll need to replace or modify the stock Bronco crossmember to fit this adapter kit.

The adapter assembly is compatible with any 1966-77 Bronco Dana 20 transfer case, but it’s important to note that it will only work with the “T” style shifter. If your transfer case has a “J” style linkage, modifications will be necessary to retain this linkage. When it comes to the transmission, this kit is designed for 2WD or 4WD 700R-4 / 4L60 / 4L60E manufactured through 1996. The overall case length of the transmission is 23.375″ and has a non-removable bell housing, as well as a 4-bolt square rear case.

If you’re working with a late model 4L60E automatic, keep in mind that it will have a removable bell housing and a 6-bolt hex pattern rear case. To use this kit with a late model automatic, an additional Advance Adapter will be required.

Options: PN716073 VSS kit. Required for early model 4L60E with a non-removable bell housing and a 4 bolt square case.
