For early Ford Broncos, the NV3550 transmission is a great option for a transmission swap. It is a 5-speed transmission that can handle high torque ratings due to the lower vehicle weight, making strength not an issue. The NV3550 is also similar in weight and size to the stock 3-speed and 4-speed transmissions, making it an ideal fit. In 1973, Ford began offering the C4 automatic, but Ford no longer makes the C4 adapter.
